Speaking at last week's National Children's Commissioning and Contracting Training Conference, Ofsted inspector Karen Dolton said CAA inspections could prompt in-depth appraisals of commissioning practice.

Dolton also said Ofsted plans to ask children and young people in commissioned care placements for their views.

She added that Ofsted needs to link information about how local authorities and independent service providers work together.
