London Borough of Enfield

We promote the social, economic and environmental wellbeing of our community and help residents improve their neighbourhoods and their communities. We set high standards for quality and value for money and will meet them. We listen to our customers and citizens in developing local democracy. We work with our partners to plan, shape and deliver services which meet real local needs in the most efficient way.
We place the highest value on our employees because it is their determination, expertise and commitment that allow us to provide top-quality services. On top of that is the satisfaction that comes with working as part of one of London's most improved Children's Services.
In our Joint Area Review, which was the first in London, published earlier this year, we obtained a score of 3 out of 4.
We want you to develop to your full potential, and that means more than simply sending you on training courses, excellent though they are. We actively promote the use of secondments, shadowing, mentoring, and action learning sets.
We also offer a comprehensive corporate short course programme, including basic skills; a range of specialist in-house courses; specialist and professional qualification programmes; and our nationally recognised management programmes known as Enfield 21.
In recognition of our commitment to our staff, we have been awarded the Investors in People accreditation. We believe that staff are our most vital asset and know that a workforce that succeeds is a Council that succeeds.

The future

The theme of Enfield's Local Area Agreement is "Every Child Really Does Matter". This illustrates the emphasis we, together with our partner agencies, are putting on improving the life chances of all children, young people and their families.
We will further improve outcomes for the most vulnerable of our young people through continuing the effectiveness and performance of our targeted social care services.
Enfield was one of the earliest London boroughs to create an integrated
Children's Services Department. We are now implementing integrated support teams based around four area partnerships within the borough. These will provide an early identification and prevention service to make a real difference at the earliest opportunity and ultimately reduce the need for specialist services.
