The council has decided to use the funding for its Connexions partnership, which moves to the local authority from next April, to fund the existing provision.

Local authorities across England are in the process of deciding how to run youth advice and guidance services after the funding change.

Some areas, such as Northumberland, have opted to switch provider. Others are merging Connexions with the council youth service.

But Bradford has decided the best way to ensure young people get quality services is to continue to support Connexions.

Councillor Colin Gill, executive member for services for children and young people, said: “Connexions is a vital service and it’s important we make sure the transition runs smoothly.”
