The Department for Children, Schools and Families has provided additional funding of more than £6.5m for 2008/09 to 15 local authorities - Birmingham, Bristol, Croydon, Greenwich, Hackney, Haringey, Lambeth, Leeds, Lewisham, Liverpool, Manchester, Nottingham, Sheffield, Southwark and Trafford.
Funding for an additional two years will follow to enhance Positive Activities for Young People (PAYP) provision and target those young people most at risk of involvement in gang violence and disorder.
