Parents and children turned up last Monday to find that the nursery had ceased trading with immediate effect. A council spokesperson said, 'Dorset County Council had received no official notification that Amethyst Day Nursery had closed. We understand that it has closed owing to mounting debts.' A notice on the door said there were outstanding fees of £24,000. Dorset Family Information Service is helping parents to find alternative childcare places.
