Youth work methods should be at the forefront of the development of children's trusts, Tom Jeffery, director-general of the children, young people and families directorate at the Department for Education and Skills (DfES), told principal youth officers last week. Around 80 principal youth officers attended the two-day spring conference of the Association of Principal Youth and Community Officers (APYCO). Tom Wylie, chief executive of The National Youth Agency, said: "Jeffery emphasised that the methods and relationships youth workers have with young people are exactly the approaches the Government feels is needed in children's trusts."...
