The early years sector's initial bid to have its own dedicated organisation to oversee workforce training has been rejected by the Government. Nursery World understands that the Department for Education and Skills (DfES) received 31 bids for trailblazer Sector Skills Council status, of which 25 were rejected by the shortlisting panel, including the bid for early years submitted on behalf of the sector by the Council for Awards in Childcare and Education (CACHE).
